The Ogden High School music department will hold its second annual band clinic from 9 am to 12 noon. If your student is interested in learning a musical instrument, and doesn’t know which one, or if they would like some help with playing their current instrument better, this mini clinic is something just for them!
Are you interested in taking Marching Band, or want to know more about it? Is your child interested in playing drums in drum line, or how about Color Guard? This is the perfect time to learn more! If you have an instrument that you play or are interested in learning, please bring it. There will be 2 different classes taught, beginning and intermediate. Please indicate level of playing ability when you register. We would also like to know which instrument they are interested in, or if they are interested in either drum line or color guard.
OHS TIGER YARD/GARAGE SALE FUNDRAISER!
|
Yes, it is that time of year again! YARD SALE!!! We have planned for May 5th for our annual yard sale. It begins for the public from 8-12 noon. If you are involved with the 5K Run at SVE earlier in the AM, stop by afterwards to see what we have for sale. This is a HUGE event for us. We would love to make it even better. How can you do that, you ask? By the participation of the students in the band. Here are the particulars.
When:May 5th beginning at 6:30, with set up, until approximately 12 noon (we usually clear everything up and are completely out by 1 pm)
Where:if the weather is great, in the parking lot to the south of the school, west of the football field. We are working on getting someplace to go to if the weather is bad. Please pray for good weather!
What we need: Large items are the best! Couch/chairs/tables/dressers things like that. Electronic goods are great too! housewares like dishes/pans. Decorative items sell really well. One thing we really appreciate, but dont sell a ton of, is clothing. We appreciate clothing, but please please please make sure that it is in good condition. If you wouldnt wear it because a zipper is broken, or it is stained or ripped, we dont want it either. In year past we have taken many many loads of clothing to the DI when we were finished, so if we can limit the amount of clothing that would be great. Another big seller is prom dresses! And with Accolade being after this sale, if you have any dresses that could be donated, we would love it!
And please remember that EVERYTHING donated must be in working condition. If you donate a bike, please make sure that it needs little to no work done on it. Bikes with flat tires don't sell. Also, if you have any round clothing racks or any type of rack to display clothing, we would appreciate the use of it!
IF YOU HAVE LARGE ITEMS THAT YOU CAN'T MOVE OR NEED HELP WITH THAT YOU ARE DONATING WE CAN ARRANGE FOR A PICK-UP! AND...the trailers will be in the garage sale parking lot the day/evening before the event if you'd like to drop off your items. Please let Dan Alsup know what you have and where we can help get it picked up. (801 690-0602)
We are asking that each of the kids sign up for a 2 hour shift to help. A sign up list will be sent around soon during classes at school.
We also have done a bake sale at the same time as the yard sale. Each of the students will need to bring a dozen cookies/brownies, a cake, or a loaf of bread, or some kind of baked good at 7 am. Kellie Smith (393-6173) is in charge of this and will get a hold of you with more of the particulars.
This yard sale has been a great success in years past. Please talk to neighbors/relatives to see if they have anything they can donate to help out. And also make sure they know about the sale, so that we can boost our sales! The city is cracking down on the posting of signs on public property. We will be fined if we put any signs up on a telephone/light post, or road signs. So we need to do this by word of mouth to begin with! We will be advertising on the school marquee, and on some other signs around the city, and putting an ad in the newspaper.
If you have any yard signs that we could put up around the area (like the candidate signs you see) it would be great! We could put them up in the yards of band members. Let Dan Alsup (801 690-0602) know if you do.
We try not to do too many fundraisers throughout the year, and so rely upon this yard sale for quite a bit of the money raised to help the music department survive. Your help with this is needed to make it successful!
Thanks for you help!
